Dawn of the Zine Poster!
With the 50th issue of Milky Way Weekly releasing to Patreons this week, we thought it was time to update our zine to keep it looking fresh and exciting! This also nicely coincides with the 1st birthday of MWW and allowed us to make something awesome for the celebration.

So what's new? With this new format, we've created ourselves a lot more creative freedom. By moving away from the page by page traditional format for zines, we've been able to work with more space and have been able to be more fluid with our design. Instead of 8 individual pages that feel quite static, we now how around 4 pages (depending on how you look at them). This may seem like a downgrade, but it all uses the same amount of space as before and actually allows us to put more content on each page.
Lets take a closer look at the new changes!
Starting with the cover, you can instantly see changes. For this version of the zine the focus of the front cover is less about the imagery. Whilst this is still important it's now less of the focus (more on that later).

This immediately allowed us to make some changes. Text on the cover is bigger and we now have a nice side tab that gives you the important details of the issue like its number, its release date, and the faction being focussed on!

These may seem like small changes but they provide a nice change from before and give some important details right away.
​
Opening up the zine is where you really start to see changes, including some of those fluid improvements we talked about. The first pages are now dedicated to the story of each week. We've done away with the contents page to allow for more space for cool content. The story and it's related are not just after each other, but instead right next to each other. Having them so close and having the image trail off into the text makes the story feel cohesive and gives better visuals for what you're reading. There's also more space for the story this way meaning we can pack more into each issue each week!

Even cooler then having a new double spread is having a massive quad spread!

This extra large page gives us plenty of room to really show off the Tiny Conflict universe. This page takes 3 pages from the previous version and gives them more space as well as coherency.
The lore page is now nicely next to the model photo allowing for the same kind of cohesion from the story page. The same can also be said about the tips and tricks section. The larger space allows for more in-depth explanations of in-game tactics as well as the addition of an image to allow for showcasing what's being discussed to make it easier to understand. The large space also allows for multiple images or even diagrams. Tying the whole page is one overarching theme encompassed by the title at the top.

Rounding out the original content is the back of the zine, when it's all folded up. This space, like before, is what we use to update you on the real world happenings from DoW.

This page has largely stayed the same as before but benefits from a little extra space as well as the reverse of the side tab from the front cover. This new section contains our logo as well as a bunch of different details including our website, email, Patreon, and Instagram.
Rounding off the changes to Milky Way Weekly is the coolest change of the new edition. This new change makes MWW a must have in physical form from our store!

The reason the front cover is no longer all about imagery, like before, is because that focus is now on the reverse of the zine! The way our new zine is folded not only gives us more space and fluidity to work with it also gives us a whole new page!

Utilizing the reverse side of the paper give you the opportunity to have each issue as a cool A4 art print for your walls! We're really excited about this change as we've always really wanted to be able to show the art off better and create more of an incentive for getting Milky Way Weekly each week. This print takes away the text and title that you see from the front cover, revealing the full art with the game's logo and artist's signature.
There you have it! The new and improved Milky Way Weekly. Patreon's can get access to the next issue of MWW (issue 50) tomorrow 19/10/23. With full access going live a week later.
