A new chapter begins
The next part of the journey is here and is smashing onto your tabletop! The first major expansion for Tiny Conflict: 3012 brings you new game mechanics, a new faction, and new story!

Expansion 1: Heralds of Rust brings lots of exciting new updates to Tiny Conflict and furthers the story. First to be added to the game is the long await and much requested ramming mechanics for the game! This awesome addition adds the ability for your ships to ram their targets no matter if intentionally or not.

Ramming rules can be as easy as crashing two ships together or as complex as smashing your opponent into asteroids and other ships, forcing them to be interlocked until either ship is ripped apart or tears itself free! Ramming also adds some light rules for different terrain you have in your games making them more interactive and dynamic across your games.

To go with the new ramming rules is two new units available to all fleets. The first is the ramming focused Kamikaze wing (size 1). This small but deadly unit is best used in high numbers on weaker targets to provide killing blows to much stronger units. Using their unique ramming weapon options can tailor what targets they're better at taking down. However, be aware that whilst very deadly, they are also extremely vulnerable, especially to other size 1 units. With very limited options for ranged weapons, the Kamikaze will easily lose in a one on one and can even be counter rammed, setting off their Ultimate Sacrifice ability. The second ramming unit is the Escort (size 2). Spiritual sibling of the Destroyer to which it shares a very similar data card, swapping it's forward weapon slot for a ramming weapon. Escorts trade out their manoeuvrability for protecting of the ships around them, forcing attacking ships to target them over ships around them. Finally, when the time comes to bid a final fleet saving farewell to your Escorts, their Mortal Sacrifice ability gives them a final boost of speed to make ramming attacks with!

These powerful new craft obviously need new armaments. These are brought to you in the form of 18 new upgrades for your units with each of sizes 1, 2, and 3 getting 4 new weapons, a new armour, and a new computer! Add this new equipment to either of the new units or any of your existing lists!

Kicking off the main bulk of the new expansion, and giving it it's name, is the expansion's new faction! The Heralds of Rust are a scary faction of infected creatures powered by the galaxies scariest infection yet. Taking over both man and machine, the Rust turns all it touches into orange-hued black stone. Protruding monoliths turn even the sleekest of ships into jagged messes of death and stone. All thar remains of any infected human forms is the stone cold white eyes of the infection's victim!

Originating from "Ground Zero" in the EXP-3000 system, the Rust infection took over the human colony in the system and rapidly expanded into the stars to start it's warpath across the galaxy. All that stands in the way of it and total annihilation of mankind is the brave soldiers of UGNN Hazmat fleet Vulpix. This brave cohort is lead by the genius and cunning of Admiral Giles Arador!

Forming the bulk of the Heralds of Rust on the table top is their 3 unique units! Each of these units is uniquely tasked with spreading their own unique Crit Effect (Rust) to enemy ships. Taking full advantage of each unit will allow you to commandeer enemy units and infect them for your own nefarious purposes. The three new units also come with a whole host of unique weapons and equipment to arm them with including armour, weapons, a new misc slot, and even new commanders. Finally, and scariest of all, is the new Legendary Admiral for the HoR! This powerful new leader turns dying allies into deadly explosions of Rust potentially capturing new ships for the Rust in their dying breathes. Whilst the HoR get their own units, they also have access to all the other units and can upgrade and infect them at will to further the will of the Rust!

Facing them head on is the UGNN, who also get a range of new upgrade for their ships. Whilst they don't get any new units of their own, they can fully upgrade the expansion's new units with new unique weapons, armour, a computer, and awesome new commanders. Rounding their formidable defence is their own Legendary Admiral Giles "The Fox" Arador who uses his unique and advanced engineering skills to reduce the effects of Crit Effects and keep them at bay!
All we've talked about in this article barley scratches the surface of what's new in expansion: Heralds of Rust. This is extended even further in the deluxe version of the expansion which adds even more lore, a whole campaign to play out on the table top, and loads of cool scenarios to try out with friends!
